I just received this unsolicited testimonial from a long time client of mine named Jamie who, along with her husband, trains 3X/week with me:

Are you reading Winslow’s blog and thinking about taking him up on the offer of a free introductory training session? That training session with Winslow has the potential to change your life and your health.

Last September, at age 53, I purchased twelve training sessions. Those twelve, hour-long sessions have become a three-times-weekly commitment for just over nine months now. I’ve lost weight, I’m sleeping better, and am more fit than I have been in decades.

Winslow has been a trainer, teacher, cheerleader and whip-cracking (just kidding, Winslow) motivator and sounding board.
If you have a fitness or nutrition question, he can answer it; if he can’t, he’ll find out the answer and get back to you. If you want to add something to the days you’re not working out with him, Winslow will help you develop a plan, keep you focused and keep you from over-training.

So, if you’re reading this (twenty-something or thirty-something year-old) and wondering if Winslow can make a difference in your health and fitness – all I can say is – I wish that I would have started sooner!

Sandy Giffin just sent me this testimonial:

When I began training with Winslow I was looking for motivation and inspiration. My traditional workout routine had become boring and I was finding it difficult to talk myself into working out! My goals were to lose some weight and build muscle, but also to gain an overall fitness level that would serve for a base when I begin training for the Annual Courage Classic bike ride (3 mountain passes in three days)! After 14 years, I was beginning to dread the beginning of training bike rides. The results have been amazing. Winslow has been able to add variety to the workouts, which has resulted in working all muscle groups (I now have sore muscles in paces I didn’t even know had muscles)! The GI diet has been a relatively easy way to lose pounds while the workout has resulted in loosing inches. Most importantly, I have found that my endurance is significant enough that I am once again enjoying training rides, and even the hills seem less threatening. I can’t say it hasn’t taken some commitment, more than a few days of sore muscles, and some skepticism (just you try jumping backwards onto a 2 foot bench!!) but Winslow’s enthusiasm and the obvious results have provided the encouragement needed! Thank goodness I have Winslow and Michelle to raise the bar on the 5 people I spend most of my time with!

It’s my pleasure. You work so hard, you raise the bar for me sometimes!

A great quote from Precision Nutrition “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with. If you don’t like that average, you’re going to have to start introducing some positive people into your social circle.”

I began working with Winslow several months ago to craft a cycling-specific training program. The results have been amazing. I have gained in strength and stamina through a varied routine that is varied enough to keep it interesting.

My first real test of my newfound abilities came in early May when I completed my first century ride of the season in 5 hours, 24 minutes, more than 2 hours faster than last year. The continued training will culminate in a week-long cycling trip in France, which will include climbing the historic Alps d’Huez and Mount Ventoux.

    Thanks for the guidance Winslow!

After many months I have finally gotten my head in the game. Thanks for the motivation blog, that has helped A LOT. On the scale I weigh the same as I did when I started but I went from a size 10 to a size 6. Instead of looking at numbers on a flat, square thing that only hangs out in my bathroom I finally took a real good look at myself and really like what I am seeing and I just want to thank you for making it possible. You’re a real “life coach”.

You have a nice blog, I just got home from bicycling to work. It was hot today. I think we broke a temperature record at least once the past few days. I have working out my legs especially, yesterday I ran and Wednesday I’ll do yoga with many planks. If I can I’ll check back with you. Dick

Yet another client of mine, Jon, is going to to joining us for some body composition change action!

During a routine physical a few days ago, Jon’s doctor commented that he was close to being obese. Although this isn’t true (the doctor used BMI to determine this; BMI is no longer considered a viable nor accurate method of assessing health risk due to body composition), it struck a chord with Jon and he said to me “I want to set a new goal!”

Jon would like to cut his body fat percentage in half from 26% to 13%. Our first step, which we have already started on, is to record everything he is eating for a few days without deviating from his normal habits. This will give us an idea of what is keeping him at his current body fat level and help to show us what he can most easily change to make the fastest and best progress that can be maintained.

Once our initial survey of his nutrition is complete, Jon will start logging his new, improved nutrition plan on fitday and we’ll all be here to help him keep it up.

    Body stats to follow-stay tuned.
